Under Ohio law and OPSB rules, solar projects designed for or capable of operation at a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) or more are required to file with OPSB and seek approval of an application for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need to construct and operate a major utility facility1. The Ohio Power Siting Board has approved four solar energy projects with a combined capacity of nearly 600 MW2.
